Ms. Tengi George-Ikoli is a lawyer and economist with experience in natural resource governance, extractives policy, and development. She is currently a Senior Program Officer at the US-based Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) where she leads the national programme in Nigeria. While advancing global best practice principles such as the Natural Resource Charter (NRC) and the Extractives Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI), she contributed to efforts towards Nigeria's reform of its petroleum sector which culminated in the passage of its Petroleum Industry Act 2021.
At NRGI, she helps to advance the organisation's governance reform agenda in Nigeria, including technical assistance to civil society, media and government, advocating for transparency and accountability of Nigeria's oil and gas sector and a just, equitable and inclusive energy transition. She also encourages vigorous public debate on energy transition and its implications given Nigeria's dependence on its oil and gas sector. She represents the global reach seat on Publish What You Pay's global council. She holds a joint honours LLB in Law and Economics from the University of Wales, Swansea, and an LLM from the University of Bristol.
