Abuja, Nigeria – As part of its commitment to enhanced and distributed capacities for informed policy engagements in Nigeria, Agora Policy will host a two-day workshop on Policy Analysis and Advocacy for 60 competitively-selected staff of civil society organisations, the media, government and research institutions.
Organised with the support of MacArthur Foundation, the workshop will take place on 5th and 6th of September 2023 in Abuja, Nigeria. The maiden workshop in Abuja will be followed soon by another one in Lagos, and one or two more in other parts of the country at a later date.
The policy analysis and advocacy workshop is designed to equip early to mid-career participants with skills and knowledge needed to undertake evidence-based and impactful policy analysis and advocacy within the Nigerian context, especially at a time the country is grappling with complex economic, governance, social and environmental issues.
The workshop will feature a diverse lineup of esteemed resource persons, including policy experts and practitioners from notable institutions and organisations such as DAI, Policy Innovation Centre, University of Ibadan, University of Jos, University of Abuja, Baze University and Yiaga Africa.
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, exchange ideas among themselves, and develop practical strategies to drive positive policy change in Nigeria through policy analysis and advocacy.
The workshop will cover three major areas: theoretical/foundational aspects of public policy, practical tools and tips for policy analysis and advocacy, and case studies/experience-sharing on effective policy analysis and policy advocacy.
The workshops are in furtherance of Agora Policy’s commitment to facilitating the multiplication and diffusion of expertise among the different stakeholders in the public policy space in Nigeria. Ultimately, the workshops are geared toward engendering the adoption, implementation and sustenance of appropriate, effective and impactful public policies in the country.
